Day 1 ARRIVAL IN ANADYR Upon your arrival at the Anadyr airport (the administrative center of Chukotka) we will meet you, help you to pass the procedure of entering the border territory, and organize a transfer on a ferry to the city of Anadyr. After checking in the hotel or apartment of your choice for the tour, we suggest you get acquainted with the city, its history present and past. During a tour of the city and its environs, you will visit the monuments and learn a lot about famous personalities: Grinevetsky, Rytkheu, Mandrikov. For dinner, we offer a degustation of red fish, caviar and other local delicacies. At the end of the day you’ll get a chance to listen to a story about local rituals and traditions, and participate in the ceremony of «feeding spirits».
Day 2 ANADYR Additional day in Anadyr (in case of bad weather). A visit to the Museum center «Chukotka heritage» and folk concert in a local restaurant.
Day 3 ANADYR - LAVRENTIYA – LORINO Breakfast, transfer on a ferry across the estuary to the airport. A domestic flight Anadyr – Lavrentiya. A car ride in Lorino village (40 km, 1 hour), photographing the tundra along the way. An excursion to the underground freeze box - a storage of meat and other products of local residents, it’s like a natural refrigerator in permafrost. Then an excursion to the bone carving studio with a workshop on “bone carving”. Those who wish can order souvenirs right away. Accommodation in an apartment in Lorino. Dinner - home-made local cuisine. Ethnographer's lecture on the history of whaling. And today you will get to know the mushers and their dogs, who will help us the next days of our program.
Day 4 LORINO The morning will be devoted to the "musher school" workshop – meeting the dogs, training the basic skills of driving a dog sled, a test ride. After lunch – a dog sledding to the Lorinsky hot springs, a picnic, bathing in the springs, return to Lorino. Meeting with representatives of the Eskimo and Chukchi cultures, discussion on issues of intercultural interaction. Overnight at the apartment.
Day 5 REINDEER HERDING BRIGADE Additional day. Early breakfast. Dog sledding to the reindeer herding brigade, subject to its close location at the moment (within 60 km) Meeting with the brigade, exchange of gifts. A trip to the herd. Ritual slaughter of a deer. Tea party in yaranga, tundra life stories. Arcane throwing workshop (optional). Dinner from traditional simple dishes of reindeer herders, a workshop on cooking venison dishes. Overnight in yaranga.
Day 6 LAVRENTIYA Dog sledding to Lavrentiya village. Walking tour of the village. Visit to the local museum and village hall. Meeting with the representatives of the administration. Overnight at the apartment.
Day 7 UELEN Dog sledding to Uelen. Visit to the museum and «Bone carving» workshop. A visit to a school. Overnight at the apartment.
Day 8 UELEN - LAVRENTIYA Return to Lavrentiya village
Day 9 LAVRENTIYA (UELEN) Additional day in Uelen or Lavrentiya (in case of bad weather) Farewell to mushers and dogs that go back to Lorino. Overnight in Lavrentiya at the apartment.
Day 10 LAVRENTIYA - ANADYR Transfer to Lavrentiya Airport, departure to Anadyr on a domestic flight. Transfer on a ferry across the estuary to the city, hotel accommodation, dinner, overnight.
Day 11 ANADYR A visit to the souvenir shop, bone carving shop or a tailoring shop with national clothes. Shopping for memorable souvenirs. Farewell dinner, exchange of impressions, and at the end of the tour, it's time to relax and enjoy a folk concert during dinner in the restaurant (throat singing and / or dancing).
Day 12 ANADYR - GUDYM - END OF THE TOUR Breakfast. Transfer on a ferry across the estuary. Optional (if you’ll have a late flight from Anadyr) - Excursion to the abandoned military base Gudym. There you will have a field ration lunch. The end of the tour, departure from Anadyr.
