Day 1 ANADYR Upon your arrival at the Anadyr airport (the administrative center of Chukotka) we will meet you, help you to pass the procedure of entering the border territory, and organize a transfer on a ferry to the city of Anadyr. After checking in the hotel or apartment of your choice for the tour, we suggest you get acquainted with the city, its history, present and past. During a tour of the city and its environs, you will visit the monuments and learn a lot about famous personalities: Grinevetsky, Rytkheu, Mandrikov. Meeting with the guides - local residents, examination and training (instructing safety training) with the equipment necessary for the program. Dinner at the apartment, an introduction to the local traditions, participation in the ceremony of “feeding the spirits”, which is an essential part of every event held by local residents.
Day 2 KANCHALAN Departure on the all-terrain vehicle "Trekol" to the village of Kanchalan with a population of 700 inhabitants (70 km, 2 - 3 hours) Village tour, lunch at a boarding school, meeting with children and teachers. The guide will also demonstrate the ceremony of “feeding the spirits” and tell about the traditions and way of life of local residents. After lunch, we suggest you to relax during ice fishing (smelt, grayling) Today you will spend the night at a local school. This is very nostalgic; you will talk with children of reindeer herders, have a chat scary-campfire-story style and remember your happy childhood!
Day 3 REINDEER HERDING BRIGADE Early breakfast. Departure on the all-terrain vehicle "Trekol" to the reindeer herding brigade (100 - 120 km, 5 - 6 hours). Meeting with reindeer herders, exchange of gifts Tea party in yaranga, tundra life stories. Arcane throwing workshop (optional). Dinner from traditional simple dishes of reindeer herders, a workshop on cooking venison dishes. Overnight in yaranga (sleeping bags) or return to Kanchalan - optional
Day 4 KANCHALAN Additional day in Kanchalan (in case of bad weather) or in the reindeer herding brigade - optional. Or return to Anadyr, accommodation in a hotel/apartment. Banya (a steam bath)
Day 5 UELKAL After an early breakfast, departure on the all-terrain vehicle "Trekol" to the Eskimo village of Uelkal with a population of 100 people (120 km, 4-5 hours) Lunch - a picnic "Near the Wing" of the monument of the airplane crashed during the war. Arrival in the Eskimo village Uelkal. Accommodation at the village hall. A tour of the village, a lecture on the history of the village, on the culture and traditions of the Eskimos. Excursion to the military cemetery of Alsib pilots. Dinner - traditional Eskimo food (whale, walrus, seal). Concert of the Eskimo folk group "Imlya" Overnight at the village hall (sleeping bags)
Day 6 TRANSFER UELKAL - ANADYR Visit to an abandoned military base - tropospheric station. Return to Anadyr (180 km).
Day 7 ANADYR Additional day in Anadyr (in case of bad weather). A visit to the Museum center «Chukotka heritage». Folk concert during farewell dinner in a restaurant (throat singing and/or dancing).
Day 8 END OF ANADYR TOUR Transfer on a ferry across the estuary to Anadyr airport. Excursion to the abandoned military base Gudym. Departure from Anadyr, end of the tour. |
